Hi-Tech John was first introduced to the Sound of House back in the early 90s.
Spending those early days recording endless radio shows to cassette and amassing a sizable collection of magazines eager to discover what this music had to offer and who was behind it.
Over the years he has been influenced by a number of artists – Chicago’s Glenn Underground, Larry Heard and Cajmere being the most revered to the Motor City’s’ own Moodymann, Terrence Parker and Underground Resistance to name but a few.
The European nu-disco and UK jazz/funk scenes also bear heavy influence to his sound; records by the likes of Todd Terje, Dimitri from Paris and Joey Negro regularly grace the turntables.
He has 15 years’ experience as a DJ, playing venues throughout Glasgow. Following relocation to the east-side he has taken residence at the Village Bar in Leith with his very good friend, our own Nikki Foxx aka Foxxy DJ under the Electro Cycle guise.
Foxxy Djs first exposure to House music was back in the late 80s after acquiring a bootleg copy of ‘House Sound of Chicago Vol 3 – Acid Tracks’
